Rose Varieties – Mornington Botanical Rose Gardens
The rose varieties featured in the Mornington Rose Gardens include:
hybrid teas,
floribundas,
climbing,
ground cover,
Delbard
David Austin
and Historic (Heritage) Garden roses.
Surrounding the front car park there is rugosa (old fashioned) and the Mornington Rose bred by Australian breeder Bruce Chapman especially for the Mornington Botanical Rose Gardens.
The newest area of planting is around the Don Gordon Garden Room where the Heritage Rose Society of Victoria has planted old varieties of roses that have been found in cemeteries and farms and date back to early settlement in Australia. These roses have been sourced from the David Rusden Collection.
