Pruning Weekend & Rose Pruning Lessons … Wet, Wind and very little sunshine!

The weather forecast promised rain, hail, arctic winds, a top temperature of just 12°C(with a wind chill factor bought it down to a chilly 7°C!), very little sunshine, and for once it was indeed accurate!

Nonetheless, in excess of 50 very brave volunteers attended each day. There were even 30 members of the public who braved the elements for the pruning demonstrations! Our true dedication to our roses!

Very generous volunteers provided amazing food in huge quantities and no-one went home hungry. The soups, sandwiches, cakes and slices, scones, fruit platters, herb breads, as well as the hot food were all very welcomed by the hungry hordes coming in out of the cold at each break.

In spite of all, it was a very successful weekend all round. A huge thank you to all who contributed one way or another. Let’s hope the weather next year will be kinder!
